St. Barth Bucket

My apologies for the lack of posts the past few days, I have been so busy sailing in the St. Barth Bucket Regatta! The race was a 3-day event, with a different course each day.

The St. Barth Bucket is the Caribbean equivalent of the Newport Bucket. The general plan is for a staggered start according to speed, so that the boats come across the finish line together.

Along with the 3 days of sailing, there was also an impressive social schedule that included yacht -hopping cocktail parties, a Saturday Bucket Bash, along with the general debauchery that occurs when thousands of sailors, yachties, and racer-chasers gather on one small island.

More pictures to come when I can find the professional ones online!

TRUNKS

Swim trunks that is. Sorry, I know its not summer yet... but hold that thought.

The Italian swimwear company SUNDEK has a store in St. Barth, and every time I walk by, I think of all the people that I know that would love these swimming trunks in all their retro, but totally current glory.

Now I just need to have a themed beach kadima tournament...
PS. You can have your trunks custom designed. Hmmmm someone is getting some fun presents! Probably my brother Chad, but he never reads my blog anyway.

Check out their ad campaign. Pretty random!

Sweat It Out

Although I skipped winter entirely, I am still going through the feeling of wanting to revamp my workout routine, eat well, and shape up for the spring and summer.

Last summer, Murray (ze dog) was my best running partner... if I was not feeling up to it, Murray would give me a pleading its-time-for-our run look, and then we would be out the door. I also like to mix it up with bike rides to Sconset... (but with an ice cream at Sconset Market- I dont know if the work-out counts!). This summer, I am hoping to join a yoga studio to balance out my workout routine and help keep me motivated.

Besides downloading new music (for which I always turn to EMF or AMC for suggestions) - new workout gear always helps me turn it up a notch.

These images of Natasha Poly by Craig McDean in Vogue Italia are also pretty inspiring.... but for functional workout gear, I will stick to Nike and Lululemon. (Self magazine also has some good tips!)

Gisele - Vogue Shape Issue

Love love love.
Oh and it was shot by my yacht neighbor in St. Barth - Patrick Demarchelier... Casually.

This is one of his famous pictures in St. Barth

Knot Knowledge

Working on the W boats, I have been learning a ton - from how to work the runners, to how the spinnaker sail functions, and also - how to tie a good KNOT.

One of the most useful knots that I have been taught is the bowline.

But, one of my favorite knots is the turk's head knot. Almost synonymous with Nantucket, this bracelet is also known as sailor's bracelet - for sailors used it in the past to wipe sweat from their forehead after swabbing decks!

I always buy my turk's head from Sconset Market, but you can also figure out a way to do it online thorough Nantucket Knotworks. They also have other fun rope-y things like monkey fist key chains, and flattened out turk's head coasters.

If you want to step it up a knotch, go for the turk's head in GOLD. There are many upscale versions, but this one is an easy impulse purchase. (by Philip Crangi / Giles & Brother)

W-Class

As I mentioned before, I recently relocated to St. Barth. I MUST get out and take some pictures myself, but here are some pictures of the sailing yacht that I am living on/working on/racing on called "Wild Horses."
The W-Class boats are classically designed and SO much fun to sail. Check out their website and see lots more racing pics - hopefully ones with me in them soon!

I first met the owner of the W-fleet in Newport for a CK Bradley photo shoot... (what a mischievous weekend that was! ). I am already plotting to do another CKB/W-class photo shoot this summer in Nantucket...

On another note... I need to purchase some boat shoes... and I so wish I could easily order these from J.Crew...
