Queen of Kaftans

... thats what Allegra Hicks is known for.... and after carousing Calypso, her designs are fresh on my lust list.

The daughter of David Hicks, and sister to India, Allegra's life was undoubtedly flooded with creativity and bohemian chic nonchalance. The biography on the designer on her site tells of how she grew up in Turin, and went on to study design in Milan, and Fine Art in Brussels before moving to New York.

"Allegra uses a unique print vocabulary and applies this to all her collections: fashion, home and interior. her style can be described as timelessly elegant, sophisticated, organic, eclectic, often with a vintage feel. Her unique elegance and style has drawn a lot of attention and has been featured in all the top Fashion and Lifestyle magazines around the world."

Bright Young Things

No, I am not talking about the film, (thought thanks to BC - I do love it!) but rather my favorite shoot for Elle magazine of all time.

I realized recently that the shoot features Ralph Lauren (ex?) model Filippa Hamilton-Palmstierna (and Larysa Castro). Shot by Giles Bensimon. (Jan. 2005!)

Bond Girl Style Stalking

According to Wikipedia, a Bond Girl is a character or actress portraying a love interest of James Bond in a film or novel. They occasionally have names that are double entendres. Bond Girls are often victims rescued by Bond, fellow agents or allies, villainesses or members of an enemy organization, most typically the villain's accomplice, assistant or mistress. Some are mere eye candy and have no direct involvement in Bond's mission; other Bond Girls play a pivotal role in the success of the mission.

My current favorite: Honey Ryder (Ursula Andress) for her swimwear obviously.

Yoga Inspiration

Whenever I relocate, I always face the challenge of having to rework my routines. I have to find a new favorite place to buy my favorite foods, befriend new baristas to mix up my daily fix of vanilla soy latte, and also plan a new daily workout to adapt to the new surroundings. Away from Princeton Fitness & Wellness, (where I would go to watch Food Network while biking or elipticaling, and then relax in the sauna on a daily basis) getting myself to workout is more difficult.I have discovered that yoga the best fit for working out, relaxing, and adopting a new place as mine.

My favorite Yogi is Christy Turlington. She has done so much to promote the benefits of yoga without turning people off by new-age philosophy.

PS - An easy way to yoga on-the-go is via online sites like this one: yogayak.com

A Nod to Cocktail Hour

A well-stocked bar is an essential to any abode... no matter how confining the space.

I was so inspired by this post by Habitually Chic, I had to share. For all the interior decorating sources and details, see her blog.... It is a daily read of mine!

Though I am a bit of a nomad right now... when I pick a place and stay there for a while, I have lots of ideas for 5 o'clock traditions... and I have decided the setup will somehow incorporate a giant clam shell.
